Kieran Johnson is an arts executive, visual artist, and educator with over 14 years of leadership experience scaling cultural institutions and strengthening the creative sector. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Huntington Arts Council (HAC), directing strategic operations, multi-million-dollar financial structures, public regranting programs, and advocacy efforts across New York State.
During his tenure at HAC, Kieran scaled the agency's annual operating budget, expanded state and community grant distribution, and strengthened partnerships with regional and state officials. His prior administrative career spans fine art financial management for high-net-worth clients at Creative Business Inc., non-profit operations at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and financial and special project management at the Richard Avedon Foundation.
Active in cultural policy and governance, Kieran serves as Treasurer for Arts NYS and is a Member of the Suffolk County Citizens Advisory Council on the Arts.
As a photographer, Kieran’s work has been shown internationally and nationally, with exhibitions at the Ricoh Photo Gallery (Tokyo), Project Basho (Philadelphia), Lubeznik Center for the Arts (Indiana), and galleries throughout New York City. He holds a BFA from the Purchase College School of Art and Design and an MFA from Kendall College of Art and Design, and has taught or lectured at Kendall College, Purchase College, and the SPE Conference in Cleveland.
